This past June I had the great pleasure of competing in the 48 Hour Film Project. Twenty-two Local teams had 48 hours to write, produce, shoot and edit a film.
Our team gained sponsorship from MATA Community Media, this talented group included;
Lucien Jung (Executive Producer) Lucien is a graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications M.A. program in Television-Radio-Film. His background includes research in the IP-based distribution of multimedia content and production of entertainment and talk format programs for web distribution. Jim Van Vonderen and Justin Propp, (Directors of Photography) Jim and Justin work together in Community Television and share responsibilities from videography and editing to classroom trainings and station programming.Dan Harmon (Sound Design) Dan has been a public radio talk show producer in Milwaukee for over 15 years – recording and editing interviews and music, along with music selection and compilation. He has also worked on local theater and video productions coordinating sound effects and music. Ed Makowski (Sound Assistant) Ed is regular contributor of poetry, contemporary literature, and segments to Lake Effect on Milwaukee’s NPR station 89.7 WUWM Severn Anderson (Videographer) Severn is a current film student at the UWM’s Peck School of the Arts. Jeff Lahti (Videographer) Jeff is a Television Production Student at MATC. Also we must thank -(Production Assistants) Zoe Hurdle and Brian Davis and Elizabeth Falkowski lead us as our Continuity Supervisor.
Our film a suspense thriller entitled “Play’er Be Played” is set in the neighborhood of Riverwest, and features an all-original cast including; Tracey Mannery “Manny”, Comedic relief Odell White as “Simon Taggert”, Shawn Payne as “Lavell”, Lakeisa Wintrey as Roxi, Vicki Partee as “ Precious”. Montell M Horton and Hugh Bent, along with John Peterson and Shatonya Alexander Payne-Boss.
The now award-winning theme “Chess Life” was written by local talents Bizzo (lyricist) and composer Gabe Hammer. Their theme took BEST MUSICAL SCORE at the 48 hour film awards.
On June 23rd all teams had their films screened during the 48 Hour Film Fest at the Oriental Theater, Fornear photo covered the event
